The Franklin’s Lions Club celebrated the 2016 recipients of their annual scholarship fund on June 13, with a fish fry for student winners and their families.
“It is a great opportunity for the young adults to socialize with the Lions Club and let them learn more about how they can help their community while they are in college,” said John Hamlin, incoming president of the Franklin Lions Club.
The Lions Club was able to award three scholarships this year to Diana Sanders, Mary Katherine Karcher, and Elana Dykes.
Wayne Proffitt Agricultural Center under the pavilion. Each year the Franklin Lions Club grills dozens of chickens on the Fourth of July and serves them up with baked beans, slaw, bread, and dessert for $10, with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund. Carry-out plates will also available.

The Lions Club of Franklin meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at the Angel Medical Cafeteria at 5:45 p.m.
