Jeremy Roy ‘JJ’ Robinson II
Jeremy Roy “JJ” Robinson II, 21, of Scaly Mountain, N.C., passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. He was born in Lansing, Mich., and moved back and forth from Michigan to North Carolina throughout his lifetime. He was a kind, sweet, giving, caring, gentle, smart, good hearted person with a great sense of humor. He was the best son, brother, grandchild, nephew, cousin and friend. He is loved and appreciated by so many. We will miss him dearly. He loved his friends and family, music, video games and playing football. He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Lynn Grider (Bradley Christopher Lindensmith) of North Carolina and Jeremy Roy Robinson of Michigan; siblings, Christiana Leigh Robinson, Samarah Fatemarie Lindensmith of Michigan and Noah Christopher Lindensmith of North Carolina; honorary aunt, Kendra Johnson; honorary uncle, Michael Oliver Kelly of Scaly Mountain, N.C.; honorary cousins, Kenneth Charles Robinson of Franklin, N.C., Susan Marie Johnson of Atlanta and Maddison Grace Robinson; grandparents, Michael John Grider of Michigan, Sandra Lea Mireles-Miller of North Carolina, Charles Robert Robinson Sr. of Michigan, Fred and Karen Ann Runken of Scaly Mountain; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 2 p .m., in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Marrell Smith Miles
Marrell Smith Miles, 87, of Franklin, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018. Born September 14, 1931, in Heard County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lib Haynes Smith and Colie Henson Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Douglas Miles Sr. (March 14, 2016). She loved flower gardening, sewing, and quilting, and worked at her daughter’s quilt shop for several years. Devoted Christian, beloved mother and grandmother, she is survived by children, Richard Miles Jr. (Denise) of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Maxine Ramey (CJ) of Franklin, Frank Miles (Rhonda) of Newnan, Ga., and John Miles (Sherry) of Woodland, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home, Bowdon, Ga. Burial was in Bethel East Baptist Church Cemetery, Woodland, Ala., alongside her husband. Theodore F. Wisniewski
Theodore F. Wisniewski, 79, of Highlands, N.C., joined the love of his life on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018. He was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., moving to Highlands a few years ago, where he lived with his son at The Mountain. For Ted, the Mountain was a place of healing and acceptance. He was the beloved husband of Pauline C. Harry Wisniewski; brother to Thomas F.; devoted father of Najhe (Dave) Danglis, Amber (Mark) Zych, Dawn Kotin, Theodore (Wendy) and Christopher (Heather); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. For much of his life, he and his wife were involved in giving back to the community. He will be dearly missed. Connie Hudspeth Campbell
Connie Hudspeth Campbell, 90, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018. Born in Belmont, she was a native of Gaston County and a daughter of the late John Frank and Sadie (Mullis) Hudspeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Campbell, to whom she was married for 26 years, prior to his death on Jan. 30, 1979. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Rev. F. Mason Hudspeth and one sister, Ann Fox. She began a career of 41 years as a dedicated secretary/bookkeeper at Franklin High School, where she exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic. She faithfully served the principals, teachers, and supported all the students in their activities until her retirement of June 30, 1994. She was a friend and mentor to many during her years of service. She was a member of Iotla Baptist Church for 65 years, where she served in numerous capacities as long as her health would allow her to attend. Serving as music director for 25 years, she was also active in the Katherine Sunday School Class, church choir, Discipleship Training, Women’s Missionary Union, JOY Group, Sew’n Sews, as well as serving on the Helping Hands Committee. She was fully devoted in every aspect of her church and church family. Surviving is Connie Walton of the home and Rabun Gap, GA., who was like a daughter to her; one brother, Terry Hudspeth (Martha) of Gastonia; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Evans of Franklin and Patricia Price of Lancaster, S.C.; and several wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as her dedicated caregiver, Margaret Howard, of Franklin. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, at Iotla Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony Ledford, Kenneth Coalley, Bucky Asbey, David Fox, Bryon Farris, Wayne Lynch, Steve Norton, and Matt Fox. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Katherine Sunday School Class and the John H. Campbell Sunday School Class. William Shawn Grant
William Shawn Grant, 51, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. He was the son of the late Lesko Grant and Glenda Joyce Garrett Grant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Sherman, and grandson, Skeet Moore. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed trains, NASCAR, and Clemson football. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rose Mary Walker Grant of Franklin; daughter, Sabrina Moore (Tony) of Tamassee, S.C.; four grandchildren, Zane Sherman, Christian Hart, Jerry Moore, and Shawn Moore; and many nieces and nephews. Grady Lee Kirkland
Grady Lee Kirkland, 89, of Franklin, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 30, 2018. He was born in Swain County, North Carolina on Nov. 18, 1929, to the late Pearly and Hattie Kirkland. He left Franklin and worked for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan for 30 years. Upon retirement he returned to South Skeenah were they lived until moving to their home on Tanasi Lane. He loved to garden and spend time working around the home with his wife. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his wife very much. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he was a strong supporter of the Gideons. He is survived by his loving wife, Nell, of 63 years. They were married on June 1, 1955. He is also survived by two sisters Aileen Hodgins of Georgia and Epsie Blaine of Franklin; one brother, Jesse Kirkland of Mountain Home, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Gladys Stamey and two brothers, Frank and William Thomas Kirkland. A funeral service will be held at Victory Baptist Church on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Rusty Wolfrey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Teresa ‘Terri’ Ann Piccarreta
Teresa “Terri” Ann Piccarreta, 59, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Born in Augusta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Edward Gambella and Millie Janeka Gambella. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jeffrey Piccarreta of Franklin; children, Kristin Vetere (Greg) of North Carolina, Matthew Chiodo of Colorado, and Gabby Piccarreta (Gabby Chaves) of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Toniann Zaprir of Florida and Tari Adams of Georgia; brother-in-law, Tom Piccarreta of Georgia; step brother, Edward Gambella of Florida; step sisters, Suzanne Rosenberg of Florida, and Debra Gambella of New York; two grandchildren, Brandon Vetere and Dean Vetere; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, Dec. 8, at Macon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
