Margaret Jean McNary

Margaret Jean McNary, 88, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018.

Born in Daytona Beach, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Samuel T.V. McBee and Ruby Root McBee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hicks McNary, who died in 2007. She was a member of the Eastern Star Nequassa #43, Franklin, and Tri-gate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Franklin.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at Franklin Seventh Day Adventist Church. Pastor Glenn Marshall will officiate.

Memorial donations can be made to the Three Angels Broadcasting Network, a nonprofit Christian based television and radio program dedicated to Christian and health-oriented programming, 3ABN PO Box 220, West Frankfort, IL 62896.

Albert Harold James

Albert Harold James, 90, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018.

Born in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Solly James and Anna Yankay James.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June James and a sister, Dorothy Williams. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth James of Franklin; daughter, Laura Lapalatto (Robert) of Long Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Jesse James and Jason James both of Franklin, James Lapalatto of Long Island, N.Y., Kyle Ledford and Kody Ledford both of Franklin.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home.  Rev. Frank Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made to Grace Baptist Church.

Evelyn Kate Dalrymple

Evelyn Kate Dalrymple, 72, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018.

Born in Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Doyle and Loretta McLean Dalrymple. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Lakey and her brother, Boyd Dalrymple. She attended Cartoogechaye Baptist Church.

She is survived by sister, Dianne Dalrymple of Franklin; two brothers, Troy and Mack Dalrymple both of Franklin and many nieces and nephews.

No services will be held.

Thomas John Spies Sr.

Thomas John Spies Sr.

Thomas John Spies Sr., 79, of Franklin, N.C., went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Herbert Louis Spies and Florence Marie Paul Spies and predeceased by brothers Frances Delaney and Robert Spies.

He is survived by his three children, Pamela Jean Spies of Fredericksburg, Va., Susan Spies Brown (Jim Brown Jr.) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas John Spies Jr. of Athens, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He graduated from Brush High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was awarded a full basketball scholarship to Florida State University. He owned and operated American Battery in Franklin, for 20-plus years. Before being diagnosed with ITP, he would be seen on the Franklin Golf Course often. He is loved and will be missed by his family and his many dear friends in Franklin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Randy Robbins

Randy Robbins

Randy Robbins, 50, of Franklin, N.C., went to meet his maker and walk through the pearly gates, on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.

He is the son of Lawrence and Florence Robbins of the Oak Grove community. He was a loving and wonderful husband to his wife Lynn Robbins and father to their three children, Savannah, Jessica and Mason Robbins, all at home in the Burningtown community.  He has one brother, Eddie Robbins; four sisters, Geraldine Ronan, Judy Brendle, Pat Waldroop (James) and the late Jane Dills; six nephews and nieces, Josh Ronan, Travis Waldroop, Jake Dills, Avery Brendle, Allie Brendle and the late Christy Waldroop; two great nephews, Landon Nickelson and Randal Brendle.  He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, farming and sang hunting.  He had a quick wit and loved to push your button until he got a response which would make him laugh.  Randy loved his family furiously.  He always said, “that one day he was gonna share a drink with Jesus.” Daddy we love you and you are already missed.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Tellico Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Steve Reeves officiated.

Pallbearers were Travis Waldroop, Josh Ronan, James Waldroop, Avery Brendle, Benny Hampton and Randy Ammons.
