Gregg Richard Gibson

Gregg Richard Gibson

Gregg Richard Gibson, 42, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017.

Born in Sylva, he was the son of Richard and Joyce Angel Gibson. He owned and operated Gibson’s Repair; he was a talented diesel mechanic. He enjoyed farming and working cattle. He was a member of Iotla Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Kathryn Angel of Franklin; three children, Brett Gibson (Kacie Peck) of Franklin, Adrienne Gibson and Colton Gibson, both of the home; sister, Kimberly Gibson Lane of Social Circle, Ga.; grandson, Benson Reid Gibson; mother of his children, Lori Rogers (Mark) of Highlands; aunts and uncles, Linda Cunningham, Mike Angel (Nolita) and Doug Angel (June) all of Franklin; nephews, George and Samuel Lane; as well as several cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Bryant Cunningham.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves, Rev. Stacy Woods and Rev. Brandon Breedlove will officiate. Burial will be in Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lane Cabe, Josh Morgan, Justin Morgan, Billy Parrish, Bobby Green, Chris Haller, Joe Birchard and Brad Cunningham.

James T. Huebler

James T. Huebler, 45, passed suddenly on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017. He was born in Florida on July 18, 1972.

He is survived by his children, Hannah Arnold, William Huebler, Kaylee Huebler and his sisters, Jessie Dunoski and Judy Purtell, along with his nieces and nephews, Michael Dunoski, Tia Martezian, David Dunoski, Philip Dunoski, Erin Winkler, Ryan Purtell, Kyle Purtell, Jeffrey Hoey and Jason Hoey.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 30, in the sanctuary of Dryman’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  Rev. Kelly Dotson officiated.

Memorial donations can be made to the Dryman’s Chapel United Methodist Church (Jim Huebler Memorial Fund).

Edna Mae Brendle Sanders

Edna Mae Brendle Sanders, 90, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Macon County to the late Frank Miller Brendle and Nobia Bell Sanders Brendle. She was married to the late Mack Sanders who preceded her in 1989. She was a waitress for 47 years having worked at Cagle’s and B&D Restaurant. She was a member of the Watauga Baptist Church. She loved to clean house and decorate her home but most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce Carpenter and Brenda Delgado (Sam) both of Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Carol Sanders of Franklin; grandchildren, Rodney Sanders (Renee), Christie Stanfield (Mike), Russell Sanders, and Laura Sanders; great-grandchildren, Nathan Sanders, Katie Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Luke Sanders, Emily Sanders, and Christopher Stanfield; three sisters, Doris Green of Easley, S.C., Betty Guest and Wanda Berry, both of Franklin; and a brother, Ernest Brendle of Franklin.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger “Booty” Sanders in April 2017; son-in-law, Jim Carpenter; and a grandson, Ryan Sanders.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Watauga Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Lowe and Rev. Wesley Price officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Rodney Sanders, Russell Sanders, Luke Sanders, Nathan Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Sam Delgado, Rick Cassada and Ernie Brendle. Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Stanfield, Mike Stanfield, Christie Stanfield, Katie Sanders, and Emily Sanders.

Barbara JoAnne Duncan Kelley

Barbara JoAnne Duncan Kelley, 81, of Highlands, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

Born in Deland, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Katherine Currey Webb.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Duncan.

She is survived by four children, Patti Russell of Deland, Ill., Mark Duncan and wife Cheri of Champaign, Ill., Russ Duncan and wife Becky of Franklin and Rick Duncan and wife Margaret of Wisconsin; one brother, Butch; two sisters, Marsha and Bonnie; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.

Donald Robert Graham

Donald Robert Graham, 58, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.

Born in Hollywood, Fla., he was the son of the late Donald Graham and Kathleen Russell Graham. He was a software analyst for Drake Software and was a nature photographer.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Pielhop; and two brothers, Bill Graham and Jim Graham.

A private service will be held at a later date.
