The Macon County Board of Education unanimously approved Todd Gibbs as the new Director of Secondary Curriculum and Auxiliary Services for Macon County Schools on Monday night.
Gibbs will assume his new administrative position on July 1. His duties will include 7th – 12th grade curriculum, career technical education, auxiliary services and other duties as assigned by the school system superintendent. In addition, he will be involved in transportation, maintenance and English as a second language.
For the last seven years Gibbs has served as principal of Macon Early College. He will be assuming responsibilities currently held by several central office staff including Nancy Cantrell who will no longer serve as the Director of Exception Children. As the new Director of Auxiliary Services, Gibbs will be taking over some of the duties currently held by Terry Bell such as serving as the district’s Athletic Director.
“With Gibbs’ background as an assistant principal at an elementary and the high school as well as principal at the Macon Middle School and Macon Early College, he’s got the experience to do the job,” said Macon County Superintendent Dr. Chris Baldwin. “He’ll do well in the position; his entire career has been in the Macon County School System. He understands the transportation and maintenance departments and has a strong background in curriculum.”
