Carolyn Grier Boatwright, 91, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016.

Born in West Palm Beach, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Ervin Grier and Mary Shea.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Boatwright, who died Jan. 14, 2013, and a son, Billy Boatwright, who died Dec. 20, 2013; three brothers, Jack, John and Bob Grier. She was a member of Patton United Methodist Church.  She loved her time at Boatwright Auction where she worked concessions for many years.  She was the oldest recipient of the Serve Safe Food Service certificate, missing only one question on her exam.  She also loved her flower gardening.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Boatwright and wife Marie of Shooting Creek, N.C.; Richard Boatwright of Westville, Fla., and Jeff Boatwright and wife Evelyn of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Kay Boatwright of Warne, N.C.; one sister, Midge Brisson of Palm Harbour, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.  Rev. Bobby Cloer and Rev. Andy Cloer officiated.  Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Keith Boatwright, Dwayne Boatwright, Rich Boatwright, Doug Boatwright, and Eric Boatwright and Blaine Keener.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Cloer, Marty Tulley, Jerry Sanders and Blake Arnold.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dollie Moss Jennings, 89, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016.  She was born in Jackson County to the late Ferber and Dovie Coggins Moss.  She was married to John E. Jennings who preceded her in death in 1983.

She was a member of Pine Creek Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, John Moss (Diane), and Vance Jennings (Shirley); two daughters, Jessie Holland (Mack) and Brenda Henry; three grandsons, Michael, Ricky and Tim Holland; one granddaughter, Ada Jane Shipley; four great grandsons; eight great granddaughters; a number of great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Heather and Ashley Jennings; son-in-law, Naamen Henry; sisters, Rachel Houston, Ada Greene, Gerstal Evitt and Candace Moss and brothers, Western, Herstal, Bud and Austin Moss.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 14, in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Gary McCoy and Rev. Bud Haire officiating.  Burial followed in Ellijay Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Michael Holland, Ricky Holland, Travis Holland, Matthew Holland, Toby Holland, Chris Shipley and J. D. Gibson.  Tim Holland and Randy Rogers served as honorary pallbearers.

Bryant-Grant Funeral Home is serving the Jennings family.

Douglas John Ludvigson, Sr.

Douglas John Ludvigson, Sr., 52, of Mountain City, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2016.

Born in Lowell, Ind., he was the son of the late Carl Ludvigson and Mona Herbst Ludvigson. He enjoyed camping in the mountains. He was of the Lutheran faith.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deedra Wallace Ludvigson; two sons, Douglas  John (DJ) Ludvigson, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Dustin Carl Ludvigson of Athens, Ga.; brother, David Ludvigson of Lawrenceville, Ga., and sister, Lynn Taylor of Hoschton, Ga.

No services are planned.

Michel Franc, 62, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.

Harry Lee Meeks

Harry Lee Meeks, 86, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.  Born in Wadesboro, N.C., he was the son of the late John and Berta Meeks.

He was employed in insurance sales; he loved to cook old fashioned cooking and was of the Church of God faith.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Taylor Meeks; one daughter, Susan Carroll (John) of Georgia; one sister, Johnsie Hill of Tampa, Fla., and one grandson, Jeffrey Meeks Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Meeks, one brother and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Carenet, 130 Bidwell Street, Franklin, NC  28734.

Martha Reese Lamb

Martha Reese Lamb, 78, of Highlands, N.C., passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016.  She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Joseph Reese Jr. and Lucille Pierson Reese.  She was a hairdresser and a member of Highlands Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by a daughter, Gina L. Thacker (Greg) of Virginia; a son, Brett D. Lamb (Cheryl) of Highlands; four grandchildren, Cole Lamb, Quinn Thacker, Brent Sleight and Kirstyn Lamb; two brothers, Louis W. Reese of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Daniel Q. Reese of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph R. Reese.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 3 p.m. at Highlands Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of one’s choice.
