Margaret Ann Nickerson

Margaret Ann Nickerson, 99, died on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Blue Ridge on the Mountain. Margaret was born in Oak Park, Ill., on May 30, 1916, to the late Alfred and Ivy Coffron Mickels. Margaret was known by her laugh and loved playing gin rummy. She was the “Rock” of her family whom she loved dearly. Margaret retired from Kmart Corporation after many years of faithful service.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Nickerson.

Margaret is survived by three sons, Paul “Butch” Nickerson and his wife, Deborah of Franklin, N.C., Steele “Danny” Nickerson and his wife, Nellie of Hollywood, Fla., and William “Billy” Nickerson of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kristi Nickerson, Kathi Nickerson, Kerri Nickerson, Jeffrey Nickerson, Amie Nickerson, Emilie Nickerson, and Kim Osmani; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on May 28, at Blue Ridge on the Mountain in Sylva, NC. She will be inurned in Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin, N.C.

Margaret Breedlove Crawford

Margaret Breedlove Crawford, 93 of Otto, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016.

Born in Glenville, NC, she was the daughter of the late William M. Breedlove and Minnie Todd Breedlove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Crawford; one sister, Viola Bryson and two brothers, Ralph Breedlove and Julius Breedlove. Margaret was a member of Longview Baptist Church, where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. She loved to make bread, knit, crochet and volunteer with hospice at Angel Medical Center; she was a G.E.D. tutor.

She is survived by two sons, Carroll Crawford and wife Linda of Sanford, Fla. and Ronald Crawford of Sylva; one daughter, Janice Evans and husband Clyde of Cochran, Ga.; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service were held on Monday, April 18, at Longview Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Nalen and Rev. Clyde Evans officiated. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Sylva, N.C.

Steve Rice

Steven Rice, 54, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2016. He was born on August 3, 1962 in Macon County.

He worked for the Boys anad Girls Club raising money for the clubs and to build new ones. His goal in life was to help kids.

He is survived by his parents Ralph and Linda Rice, brother Phil Rice, sister Joan R. Welch, three nieces, MeLisa, Britany and Katie, two nephews Crystopher and Jacob, and special friends Sam and Helga.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2 p.m. at Clarks Chapel Methodist Church.
