Annual ‘Cold for a Cause’ focuses on awareness

Braving single digit temperatures, Macon County resident Patrick Jenkins spent last weekend in a bucket extended above the Highlands Road by a crane provided by Sanders Crane. In its seventh year, the annual Cold for a Cause event was intended to raise awareness about the needs of the community and to collect donations for Macon County Care Network.

“This year’s event was nothing short of another successful year,” said Jenkins. “As I have said many times before, the people of Macon County are the ones to be commended for their efforts in bringing all the donated items to the event. If the public did not support this event, then … I would just be a guy sitting in a crane for 48 hours with nothing to donate. Therefore, I want to humbly thank everyone who donated items.”
