The scoreboards at Macon Middle School used for baseball and softball teams at the middle school and at Franklin High School were the oldest boards in the district, until now. A partnership with Major Display Inc., has allowed the scoreboards to be fully replaced, free of charge to Macon County Schools.

“We are excited about the new scoreboards for the baseball and softball fields located at Macon Middle School,” said Franklin High School Athletics Director Jay Brooks. “Major Display handles all costs for scoreboards through advertising on the scoreboards themselves.  It is a great opportunity for our sports teams and schools to get new scoreboards through Major Display with our agreement.  We are looking forward ito getting them installed and ready for us.  Baseball and softball have the oldest boards that our sports team use. This is a much needed improvement. “

Franklin based Major Display, Inc., is a global leader in athletic scoring and video display technology. With their manufacturing facility located at the Franklin Industrial Park, Major Display brings technology, manufacturing and sales jobs to Franklin area residents and strives to support other local businesses by shopping local for materials and supplies whenever possible. It is that business philosophy that makes projects like this possible for Franklin High School as well as other municipalities across the country. Major Display staff put the finishing touches on new state-of-the-art baseball and softball scoreboards for Franklin High School on Friday afternoon, just in time for the upcoming 2018 season.

“We are thrilled to be able to once again provide scoreboards for Franklin,” said Glen Whittaker, president of Major Display, Inc. “We install scoreboards for facilities around the world, but it is always a little sweeter to be able to give back to our hometown.”

In addition to the new scoreboards for Macon Middle School and Franklin High School baseball and softball teams, Major Display has provided community funded scoreboards to other regional facilities including the Parker Meadows Sports Complex, Swain County High School, Robbinsville High School and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.

The Franklin High School scoreboards are funded through contributions from local businesses and are donated to school districts at no cost to the district.
