High winds cause power outage

High winds on Friday afternoon took down a couple of power poles; one at Franklin High School and one near the intersection of West Palmer Street and US 441 Business resulting in power outages throughout downtown Franklin, including the Walmart Shopping Center. Utility crews acted quickly restoring power in just under two hours to a large portion of town. Across Macon County, trees fell across power lines with Duke Energy reporting more than 2,000 customers without power. Photos by Betsey Gooder and Vickie Carpenter
