Recently, Macon County Transit was awarded the North Carolina Public Transportation Association Safety Award. This prestigious award is highly coveted amongst the 100 counties across the state of NC. The award has six different categories based on safety. Macon County falls under the Community Transportation Programs category with equal or more than 500,000 miles. Safety is measured by dividing revenue miles by the number of accidents for which police are called to the scene and a police report is completed. In the fiscal year 2018, Macon County Transit compiled 404,718 revenue miles with zero reportable accidents. This is a very coveted honor recognized and awarded by the NCPTA “North Carolina Public Transportation Association.” Director of Transit for Macon County, Kim Angel, accepted this award on behalf of the MCT Staff. “We are extremely fortunate to have operators who emphasize Safety while operating our vehicles,” said Angel. Macon County Transit looks forward to another year of continued Safety and Serving this community with Pride and Professionalism.
