Site plans and building renderings for the new Ingles Market planned at the former Whistle Stop Mall will be on hand Monday night at town hall. The plans are part of a neighborhood compatibility meeting scheduled for all residents within 400 feet of the proposed site.

Not only will the plans be available for the public, but Ingles representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the development. The neighborhood compatibility meeting is just one step in the process in constructing the new store and is part of Ingles’ application to the town of Franklin for zoning approval.

Demolition on the former Whistle Stop is expected to be completed within a month, based on a demolition permit filed with the Macon County Planning and Permitting Department.

In January, Ingles purchased both the Whistle Stop and the old Walmart. To date, requests to the company for plans on both properties have gone unanswered. Although it is still uncertain what the plan for the old Walmart property will be, questions about the Whistle Stop project will be answered at 5:30 p.m. at town hall.
