Nominations are being taken for Franklin’s annual recognition awards


The Franklin Chamber of Commerce announces nominations are being accepted for four prestigious awards, The Duke Power Citizenship and Service Award, Youth Citizenship Award, Citizen of the Year and Club/Organization of the Year.  Nomination Forms are available at the Chamber or by calling 524-3161 to be mailed, emailed or faxed.

The Citizen of the Year Award recognizes an individual who significantly contributes to the community and is an inspirational role model.  This is the most coveted award given by the Chamber of Commerce. The nominee should demonstrate one or more of the following values integrity, stewardship, inclusion, initiative, teamwork and accountability.

Duke Energy recognizes volunteer efforts by honoring citizens with the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award.  This is a tribute to individuals or groups who make a difference in their communities or places of work by using their time, talents and compassion to positively impact the lives of others.  Recipients of the award help foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities.  The award is designed to recognize outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over a twelve month period.

The Youth Citizenship Award recognizes a youth who has shown a strong interest in serving in their communities and volunteering to help others.

The Club/Organization of the Year Award is presented to the most outstanding club or Organization during 2016. The award is aimed at recognizing the club for its dedication and contribution in our community.

Nomination letters can be delivered to the Franklin Chamber of Commerce at 425 Porter Street or emailed to  Nomination deadline is Wednesday, January 4 at 5:00 pm.

These awards will be presented at The Annual Awards Banquet and Chamber Annual Meeting held on January 31, 2017.  The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres at 6:15 followed by dinner at 7:00 pm.  Dinner will be prepared again by Chef Connie Grubermann of Oak Hill County Inn.

Corporate table reservations are available by calling 524-3161.  Showcase your business to those attending the banquet by donating a door prize.  Your business will be listed in the program and recognized from the stage.

Tickets are available at the Franklin Chamber for $25 per person.  Seating is limited and advanced tickets are required.  For additional information, please contact the chamber at 524-3161.
