Burma Lee Keller

Burma Lee Keller, 70, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

Born in Louisville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Herman R. Maddox. She was a member of Mount Airy Baptist Church in Mount Airy, Ga. She was partner and owner at Keller Williams Realty, and a past director at Carolina Smokies Association of Realtors. She also served on the board at the Houston Chemical Association. She always gave more than she ever expected in return. She was very compassionate, generous, and loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Victor Keller; mother, Pearl Elizabeth Hill Garcia and dad, Adolfo Garcia both of New Haven, Ky.; children, Chanon Pritchard of Clarkesville, Ga., and Julie Jackson (Toby) of Alvin, Texas; brothers, David Maddox of Littleton, Colo., Wade Maddox of Aurora, Colo., and Adolfo Garcia III. of Sarasota, Fla.; sisters, Kathy Underhill of Aurora, Colo., Lisa Baskett of Jonesborough, Tenn., Paula Stewart of Bardstown, Ky., Kimberly Graves of Blountsville, Ala. and Genevra Fields of Mount Airy, Ga.; five grandchildren, Kayla Sutton, Kendall Countryman, Kersi Countryman, Dustin Talley, and Zowie McDougal; and four great-grandchildren, Bryson Hunter, Mallory Sutton, LeeAnna McDougal, and Arabella Talley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Pastor Butch Franklin and Mark Gerrells will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

Eugene Albert Barcel

Eugene Albert Barcel, 89, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Born in Minneapolis, Minn., he was the son of the late Edward Barcel and Dorothy Brown Barcel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Barcel. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and owned and operated Colonial Florist with his partner Bruce for 23 years.

He is survived by his life partner of 40 years, Bruce Stoudt; brother, Jerry Barcel of Hopkins, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Betty Margaret Stewman Holland

Betty Margaret Stewman Holland

Betty Margaret Stewman Holland, 91, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Born in Lynch, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Felix Stewman and Verna Yeary Stewman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady M. Holland; son, Jesse Grady Holland; brother, Jesse Stewman; grandson, David Wayne Holland; granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Cabe Swafford; and great-great granddaughter, Makenle Daniel.  She was the oldest member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and loved sewing, quilting, working her flower garden, sitting on the porch, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Gary Holland (Edith) of Franklin, Randy Holland of Franklin, and Marianne Solesbee of Hiawassee, Ga.; sister, Ann Price of Franklin; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday, May 10, at Pine Grove Baptist Church.  Rev. Greg Rogers, Rev. Mark Bishop, and Rev. Brandon Breedlove officiated.  Burial was in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Barry Cabe, Lane Cabe, Lucas Holland, Michael Holland, Cameron Holland, and Landy Holland.

Marian Ann Knudson

Marian Ann Knudson, 90, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Born in Camden, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Herbert M. Abrahamson and Grace Stearly Abrahamson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dean Isaacs and Mark Isaacs.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Nathan Isaacs of Portland, Ore. and Kim Archer of Marietta, Ga.; five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; her nephew and caregiver, Barry McKently of Franklin, and an additional nephew and niece.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church.  Rev. David Beam and Rev. Margaret Freeman will officiate.
