Sally Mae Clark Seay

Sally Mae Clark Seay, 84, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Clark and Launa Bradley Clark.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Arvey Seay; a daughter, Sonya Jean Otero and two brothers, Jim Clark and Robert Clark.  She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Pat Seay Fine (Greig) of Savannah, Ga.; brother, Joe Brown of Franklin; three grandchildren, Russ Robison (Monica), Amy Fine (Tim Sark) and Cody Otero (Jess) and three great grandchildren, Sydney, Cooper and Chloe Robison.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice House Foundation of WNC, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC  28744.

Waunita May Jacobs, 75, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019.

Born in Prosser, Wash., she was the daughter of the late Herman Scott and Margaret Lalka Scott.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Dobson. She loved her family and was dedicated to them and her dog, Cooper.

She is survived by her husband, John Jacobs; daughter, Kimmy Dobson Netterville (Butch) of Alpharetta, Ga.; son, Kenneth Dobson (Amy) of Baton Rouge, La.; two step daughters, Donna Jacobs and Tiffany Niemeyer both of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Elaine “Cookie” Landry of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Melanie McDonald (Steve), Britney Johnson (Jake), Jacob Dobson and Devin Jacobs; one great grandson, Owen “Owie” McDonald; and aunt Anne Lalka Leake of Seattle, Wash.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Atlanta, Ga.

Eugene Thannel Talley

Eugene Thannel Talley, 73, of Highlands, N.C. passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2019.  He was born in Rabun County, Georgia, Oct. 14, 1946, to the late Radford and Myrtle Bryson Talley. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.  He was the last of original trustees of the Clear Creek Community Cemetery and was one of the original members of the Satolah Fire Dept. He owned and operated Talley Tree Service. He loved deer hunting, being in the hayfield, and NASCAR auto racing.  He also loved hunting ginseng in the fall and hunting ramps in the spring.

He is survived by his best friend, the man he called his son, Tommy James; three daughters; a sister, Naomi Chastain of Highlands; and a brother, Novie Talley of Franklin, N.C.;  a sister-in-law, Glenda Talley of Clayton, Ga.; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Talley and Golie Talley.

A service was held Sunday, Nov. 10, at Clear Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Kinard, Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Randy Lucas officiating.  Burial was in the Clear Creek Community Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Tommy James, Grant Zachary, Ricky Talley, Roger Lee Wilson, Edwin Wilson, Dennis Stamey, David Crowe and Ricky Munger.

Eris Lillian Johnson Carlson

Eris Lillian Johnson Carlson, 94, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019.

Born in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Eric Johnson and Sonja Asplund Johnson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Carlson; daughter, Carol Carlson; and granddaughter, Bethany Enloe.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Perez (Ray) of Naples, Fla., Elaine Enloe (Neil) of Franklin, and Karen Bledsoe (David) of Clermont, Fla.; grandchildren, Brett Zawislak, Kimberly Borsa, Micah Enloe, and Whitney Dees; and great grandchildren, Emma Zawislak, Anna Zawislak, Benjamin Zawislak, Orley Borsa, Odin Borsa, Oamoro Borsa, Oliver Borsa, Elizabeth Enloe, and Charlotte Enloe.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, at First Alliance Church.  Rev. Scott Eichelberger will officiate.

Gail Arlene Peterman

Gail Arlene Peterman, 69, of Otto, N.C., passed away, Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.  She was born March 20, 1950, to the late John McDowell and Willie Kate Burrell McDowell.  She worked at Parkdale Textile Mill for 30 years.  She loved camping, festivals, traveling, the beach, crafts and her family.  She was a member of Mountain City Church of God.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Norman Peterman, who died in 2006.

Survivors include her daughter, Chelsea Mancini of Otto; her son, Ralph Norman Peterman of Otto; granddaughter, Jasmine Mancini; sisters, Debra Vanhook (Tommy) of Mars Hill, N.C., Leann Muse of Otto, and Donna McCall (Dale) of Franklin, N.C., and a brother, Michael McDowell (Melanie) of Angier, N.C.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 9, at Newman Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Ray Conner and Rev. Harvey Conner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers were Jasmine Mancini, Dale Dallmann, Chris Shields, Michael McDowell, Chris McDowell and Tommy McDowell.

Marvin Wade Anderson

Marvin Wade Anderson was born May 23, 1959, in Longview, Wash., to Joseph B. Anderson and Lassie M. Anderson.  He passed away on Oct. 13, 2019, at the age of 60. He graduated from Mark Morris High School and married Connie Hurst. Their children are Chantine Anderson-Flock, Joseph W. Anderson and Travis Anderson of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Troy Anderson of Longview, Wash. His sister, Sheila Vanderford lives in Clatskanie, Ore. He had six grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph B. Anderson.

A sports-themed and potluck celebration of life will be held on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at New Life Fellowship, 2441 42nd Ave., Longview, Wash.

Charlotte Andrews Jones

Charlotte Andrews Jones, 90, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019.

Born in Wytheville, Va. she was the daughter of the late William and Maud Kincer Andrews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Jones and a stepdaughter, Joyce Ann Scott. She owned and operated KFC in Franklin for many years. She loved working in her yard and had a passion for her beautiful flowers. She was a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Lesa Southard (Bobby) of Franklin; two grandsons, Chris Southard of Stanley, N.C., and Kyle Southard (Amber) of Franklin; and a stepson, B.W. Jones of Canada.

Memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Southard officiated. Burial was in the Louisa Chapel United Methodist Cemetery.

Royal ‘Maurice’ Jones

Charlotte Andrews Jones

Royal “Maurice” Jones, 82, of Franklin, N.C., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Fred R. and Mary Alethia Buchanan Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Mary Clement Jones and two brothers, Tom Jones and Larry Jones. He graduated from Clemson University and then went on to receive his master’s and PhD from Maryland. After graduating, he received a Fellowship to teach in Iran, returned to teach at the University of Alaska, UGA and John Hopkins University, then returned to teach 32 years at Western Carolina University.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Hicks Jones; a son, Greg Jones of Franklin; two stepsons, Patrick Kimsey of Hiawassee, Ga., and Thomas Kimsey of Gainesville, Ga.; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m., at Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Burch and Rev. Terry Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
