Sharon Lynn Carroll, 49, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. She was born in Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of Rebecca A. Blackcloud of Hanahan, S.C and Cecil Douglas of Houma, LA.  Sharon enjoyed her fish aquarium, working on puzzles and being around people and family.  She was preceded in death by a step son, Shawn Carroll. In addition to her parents, she is survived by step son, Jammie Carroll of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Patricia Engleman and Katheryn Daigle both of Franklin; five brothers, Cecil Douglas of Monks Corner, S.C., Travis Webb and Terry Webb both of Summerville, S.C., Teddy Webb Hanahan, S.C., and Kevin Webb Sr. of Summerville, S.C.; aunt, Debbie Lemack of Charleston, S.C.; uncle, Richard Hill Winton Salem; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.  Rev. Barbara MacNeill

Barbara MacNeill

The best wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and role model, Barbara MacNeill, received her wings, Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018.  She has been an inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing her and will be greatly missed. Born in New York, N.Y., on Feb. 25, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Bruno Beckhard and Isabel McCormick Beckhard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William MacNeill, and her brother, Richard Beckhard.  She was a lifetime volunteer at Angel Medical Center, a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Club and Extension Homemakers, a founding member of Otto Garden Club, and a volunteer with CarePartners Hospice for eight years. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Langford (Joe), of Franklin; granddaughter, Paige Krusoe (John), of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Mitchell, and Isabella. Out of respect for her wishes there will be no formal service. Memorial donations can be made to CarePartners Hospice, Appalachian Animal Rescue, or another charity of your choosing. Robert David Brewster

Robert David Brewster, 89, of Franklin, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018. Born in Englewood, N.J., he was the son of the late George Brewster and May Walters Brewster.  In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Cottelli.  He was a heavy equipment operator and an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Alice Brewster; daughter, Anne Schulhoff (Robert), of Gastonia, N.C.; two sons, James D. Brewster and Robert D. Brewster Jr., both of Ventura, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step children, Michael G. Sullivan (Kathy), of Pipe Creek, Texas and Kathy S. Ledford (Richard), of Franklin; four step grandchildren, Christopher Sullivan, Joshua Ledford, Jonathan Ledford, and Jessica Ledford Kelley; and four step great-grandchildren. Hazel Elizabeth Dryman

Hazel Elizabeth Dryman

Hopkins Hazel Elizabeth Dryman Hopkins, 90, passed away Sunday, Sep. 2, 2018. She was born in Macon County March 6, 1928, to the late John Dryman and Essie Henry Dryman. She was married to the late Grady Lee Hopkins, retired from Clayburn Manufacturing, and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her sister, Marie Harrison of Sylva, N.C., and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Allen; and two brothers, William Allen and Claude Dryman. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Rondal Owen officiating. Burial followed in the Wright Cemetery. Pallbearers were be Jamie Waldrop, Steven Owen, Joe Ezechel, Tony Wood, Dexter Vinson, and Fred Owen. Online condolences at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Hopkins family.
