Postponed Relay for Life event rescheduled to Aug. 17 at rec park

The Relay for Life Event Leadership team announces the rescheduled date for the Relay for Life – Franklin event will be Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at 6 p.m.  The location has been moved to the Macon County Recreation Park, 388 Allman Drive.

The event, previously scheduled for May 4,  was postponed due to forecasted bad weather. Severe thunderstorms swept through the Franklin area the afternoon of May 4, and organizers felt it would be safer to cancel the event for that evening since the power cords and metal on the tents would not be safe.

The rescheduled event will have music by Sweet Charity and the Teen Challenge Singers, food, fun, luminaries and raffles.

The schedule is as follows:

6 p.m.

– Welcome by Tony Young-Dills
