Soup to Go in downtown Franklin on Christmas

After Franklin resident and Macon County News publisher Betsey Gooder spent Thanksgiving volunteering at the First Presbyterian Church, she started to wonder where the more than 400 people who came to the church for a Thanksgiving meal would go for a meal on Christmas.

With many restaurants closed for the holiday and many dedicated organizations such as CareNet and the Serving Spoon working before Christmas to provide food items for those in need, Gooder realized that there might be a need on Christmas Day and decided to do something about it, thus, the idea for a free Soup to-go on the town square was born.
