The community gathered to unveil Sylva’s Free Little Pantry on the afternoon of Friday, June 30. Members of the community stopped by to help the stock the pantry which provides non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and home care items to those in need. Sylva’s Little Pantry was modeled after the pantry in Franklin and was built by Timothy Crabtree. It is located in downtown Sylva in front of Lifeway Community Church. Each month, the pantry will announce an “Item of the Month” to collect specific items that are the most frequently taken from the pantry. For July, the item of the month is paper products. Paper towels, toilet paper and napkins can be donated at Twice as Nice located beside Harold’s Supermarket. The item of the month allows the most used items to be stocked up to help keep the pantry full during the year.
