The North Carolina Deparment of Transportation has announced that Wayah Street will be closed beginning Thursday, June 20 to all through traffic from the intersection of Wells Grove Road and Depot Street to the intersection of Porter Street and U.S. 441 Business. The closure is necessary in order to construct the new round-a-bout at the intersection of Depot Street and Wells Grove Road. They anticipate re-opening Wayah Street to through traffic no later than Aug. 24, 2019.
The detour routes for local traffic west bound will be Depot Street to East Main Street to U.S. 441 Business. The detour routes for local traffic east bound will be U.S. 441 Business then right on Depot Street.
Road closure barricades will be placed on Wayah Street at the intersection of Wells Grove Road and Depot Street and also at the intersection of U.S. 441 Business and Porter Street.

The closure also affects the entrance to the Franklin Veterans Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The preferred entrance to the CBOC will be at US 441 Business and Porter Street and onto Wayah Street. Be advised there will be a number of barricades surrounding the entrance.
